The Magic of the Ukulele
The Ukulele is a magical and mythical instrument with a rich history that dates all the way back to Europe in the 18th century. Folklore states that the Uke has healing properties and that simply playing the instrument can incite happiness in both the listener and performer alike.
We are in the midst of a resurgence in the popularity of the Uke.
Every week, for a number of years now, TIFEM has held it’s very successful Ukulele Sundays program and it’s going strong as ever.
Every Sunday from 12:30-1pm we offer a FREE introduction to the Ukulele. This class is designed for total beginners who want to gear up for the Level 1 class.
Level 1 (1pm-2pm) teaches basic chord shapes and simple song structures. Working with basic rhythmic concepts, and melodic passages, students will learn to strategize chord changes and how to strum in time.
Ukulele Ensemble (2pm-3pm) covers more complex rhythms, melodic passages and strumming patterns will be introduced, and the students prerequisite skill of chord changing in time is encouraged. A basic knowledge of TAB reading for Uke is also suggested.
Some wonderful new opportunities to uke are coming to light this summer, including our Summer Ukulele Kids Drop-in Class (every Thursday and Saturday at 2pm).
The Uke Fairy is also going to be paying us a visit in the warmer weather and we are expecting some beautiful new instruments for all levels and budgets.
Purchase a ukulele from July 1st-August 31st and receive a FREE one-on-one Private Intro Ukulele Lesson to get you inspired.
