Elvis Presley Wins Five Dollars On This Day In History

Date:  October 03, 1945

A 10 year old Elvis Presley enters a singing contest held at the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show.

Standing on a chair in order to reach the microphone, and dressed as a cowboy, Presley makes his first public appearance and performs a rendition of Red Foley’s, “Old Shep”.

The young Elvis places 2nd, and wins a prize of five dollars.
