About Instructor

If you had to only listen to 2 albums for the rest of your life, what albums would you choose?

Oh man, this is pretty much impossible to narrow down. I suppose if I ABSOLUTELY had to pick two, it would be The Mahavishnu Orchestra’s Meeting Of The Spirits, and Opeth’s Blackwater Park.

What artist would you most want to collaborate with?

I’d love to work with John McLaughlin or Guthrie Govan.

Last great concert you saw?

I’ve seen many, but the most recent would have to be the Borromeo String Quartet performing all 6 Bartok String Quartets in one concert.

What is your favourite piece of musical equipment?

My bow, because it’s 90% responsible for the sounds I’m creating from my instrument.

What is your most memorable musical experience?

Probably performing Barber’s Cello Concerto with the McGill Symphony Orchestra.

What do you love most about music?

I love the dynamic (excuse the pun) nature of the art and the profession and how it speaks differently, but just as profoundly to everyone.

What would you say to someone who is interested in studying music?

It’s never too late to start learning music. Be willing to push yourself but be realistic with your goals and aspirations. Most of all, make sure you have fun!

What do you like to do when you are not playing music?

A lot of what I do all day is music related, but when I’m not musicing in some fashion, I like to watch horror movies and bike around the city.

What is your favourite film of all time?

The Big Lebowski.

What part of the world would you like to travel to most?

I’d love to go to Scandinavia.
